Today is National “Ride the Wind” Day according to the Daily Holiday blog. I would love to “ride the wind” today in a hot-air balloon! My husband and I used to own a hot-air balloon with friends, the balloon’s name was “Sunbow”. Then we all started having kids. Have you ever tried to get a two-year old up at 4:30 a.m. so you could be at the field and ready for take-off when the sun rises? Yeah, just doesn’t work. The balloon had to go.
Nowadays we are on the chase crew for John Lee Marlow, President of The Great Forest Park Balloon Race. It’s the oldest and most well-attended FREE hot-air balloon event in the world. The race is always on the third weekend of September. If you live within driving distance of St. Louis you should go to the Balloon Glow on Friday night, it is spectacular! Show up early on the field Saturday as there are lots of family activities! Over 155,000 spectators will be at the park to enjoy the thrill of 70 hot air balloons lifting off in the middle of one of the most beautiful parks in America. It truly is a great race! The events on race day are free, or you can purchase the exclusive VIP Experience Package and have front-row seats to all the excitement the day holds. Become a Sponsor and you can ride in one of the balloons during the race! That would be an unforgettable experience!!!
I miss having a hot-balloon, but I would trade “Sunbow” for Jolene’s smile anytime! Isn’t she beautiful?!?!?!
I used the “Up, Up & Away” rubber stamp set from Stampin’ Up when I made this card. The rubber stamps are now retired, but the Up, Up & Away Stamp Brush Set is available as a digital download.

Hi Suzy,
I’m so glad that you liked the card. I would have never known it was “Ride the Wind Day” if it hadn’t been for your fun Daily Holiday blog.
