I’m only on Day 1 with my new Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine that Santa (my generous husband!!!) brought me and I am already seriously IN LOVE!!!
Having never actually seen an electronic cutting machine, I was intimidated by the Silhouette Cameo…especially since I’m not very tech savvy…but when I actually loaded the software and started using the machine, it was sooooo much easier than I anticipated. My second project features one of the FREE weekly downloads from the Silhouette America online store. (Design ID #53674 Available for FREE until midnight on 1/13/2014.)
If you already have a Silhouette machine, you will want to watch each Tuesday for the FREE Shape of the Week. If you’re thinking about getting a Silhouette machine, go ahead and sign up for a free account, claim the FREE Shape of the Week, then when you get your new machine you can download all the free shapes that are in your account. That’s just what I did. When I got my machine I already had several great designs to use!!!
I followed the tutorial on the Silhouette America blog to make my second project, this cute “hello” card. The tutorial was really easy to understand and the “hello” and the Whisper White card stock mat turned out perfectly on the first attempt.
I just love, LOVE, LOVE this card!!! The card features paper from the “I am Me” Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Stampin’ Up! (Page 151 of the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog, Item #130138, Price: $10.95 for 2 each of 6 double-sided designs.)
I used Pool Party card stock from Stampin’ Up! for the “hello” and the card base. I also used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to add just a little more texture to the card front. I love that tool and don’t know how I ever got by in my craft room without it. Seriously, you NEED this tool!!! (Page 178 in the 2013-2014 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, Item #122334, Price: $29.95)
I would love to know what you think of this sweet little card. Hi! Love this card! How did you achieve the 3D effect?
Hi Amy,
I’m so excited that you love this card. The 3D effect is so easy to obtain. The white background for “hello” is adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensional foam dots. Then the Pool Party “hello” is adhered with glue dots. I rolled the glue dots between my fingers to make them into tiny balls so I could add the glue dots behind smaller areas, it also lifts the layer up off the background for a more dimensional affect.
Peace, Love and Joy,
Joyce
