I LOVE making banners!!! I wanted to make one for the “Valentine’s Project Round-Up” being hosted by The Silhouette Challenge group on Facebook. (Scroll down for details on how I made the banner.) The Silhouette Challenge is such a fabulous group to belong to! It currently has 459 members who are established Silhouette owners and designers and also lots of newbies….like me!!! I joined right after I made my first project and I’ve learned so much already from these wonderfully generous women! So back to the banner. So like I said earlier, I love banners!!! When I heard that Stampin’ Up! Continue Reading →

“Noel” November 2013 Paper Pumpkin Craft Kit from Stampin’ Up!

The November Paper Pumpkin kit was the ABSOLUTE BEST kit since I’ve joined Paper Pumpkin back in August!!!  I loved this kit and made one of the cards exactly as featured on the packaging, it’s even cuter in real life than in the photo….but of course….I wanted to see what else could be done with the kit’s contents so I made several more projects!  My favorite project was the cover for my iPhone! I love to change the design on my iPhone to match the holidays! I’ve had lots of people ask me where I got my fabulous iPhone Continue Reading →

I would love to be eating lobster at the Oceanside Inn!!!

This month at my stamp camps we made this fabulous card featuring the “By the Tide” collection from Stampin’ Up! One of my stampin’ friends, Angelique, was headed to dinner at Red Lobster afterwards to meet her husband.  They were celebrating their 25th Wedding Anniversary that evening. She had wonderful presents for her husband but didn’t have a card, so she was really glad she came to the class. Writing this post is making my tastebuds crave lobster drenched in butter!  The best lobster I ever had in my life was in a restaurant on the working waterfront of Gloucester, Continue Reading →

Nurse Joyce

Owl Builder Punch / Image (c) Stampin’ Up! I often wonder, is there anything more exhausting than sitting by a patient’s bedside at the hospital?!?!?! Okay, okay, sure, I guess it has been a LITTLE BIT harder on hubby, after all, he is the one who had major surgery for the second time in five months, but at least he’s getting the good drugs! Ha ha!!!Johnny’s surgeons, Dr. Shiraz Patel & Dr. Brian Kern, are FANTASTIC and the nurses here at Lourdes Hospital have been WONDERFUL.  My only complaint is that the Starbuck’s in the lobby closes at 1:00 pm and isn’t open on Sundays! Johnny’s getting Continue Reading →

How a Hot Air Balloon Lapel Pin Led to Marriage

Today my husband and I celebrate our anniversary.  If it hadn’t been for a hot air balloon lapel pin it may never have happened. I had seen him out and about quite often. It seemed he was always the center of a crowd, telling stories and making everyone laugh. He wasn’t really my type. I never sat out a song and he never stepped on the dance floor. He looked like an eccentric professor and I hated every day of high school. He was quite a bit older.  I was intrigued. I had a mutual friend introduce us. Apparently he was not impressed because Continue Reading →

Remembering the Day the Music Died

But, February made me shiver with every paper I’d deliver  Bad news on the doorstep – I couldn’t take one more step  I can’t remember if I cried when I read about his widowed bride  Something touched me deep inside the day the music died  So, bye bye Miss American Pie  Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry  Them good ol’ boys were drinking whiskey and rye, singing…  This’ll be the day that I die  This’ll be the day that I die “American Pie” Lyrics – Don McLean I was twelve when this song came out Continue Reading →

Go RED for Women!

February is American Heart Month! “Heart disease takes the lives of far too many people in this country, depriving their families and communities of someone they love and care for—a father, a mother, a wife, a friend, a neighbor, a spouse. With more than 2 million heart attacks and strokes a year, and 800,000 deaths, just about all of us have been touched by someone who has had heart disease, heart attack, or a stroke.” – Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. That’s why the entire month of Continue Reading →

A QUILTING BEE….WHO KNEW BEES COULD QUILT!!!

Image (c) Stampin’ Up! When I was a little girl, I remember the old ladies at church talking about going to a quilting bee.  I never understood why they would want to do that, I was scared of bees!!! (That’s actually a true story!!! Remember how literally you took everything when you were a child?!?!?!) I immediately fell in LOVE with this precious card the very first time I turned to page 3 in Stampin’ Up!’s new 2013 Spring Catalog. I had to have everything so I could make this one, it’s just soooo cute!!! My card is almost an exact CASE of Continue Reading →

Happy 40th Birthday Little Sister!!!

Today is my little sister Melba’s 40th birthday!!!  (I’m not quite sure how that is possible.  I was almost 14 when she was born and I’m sure that I’m not near old enough for my little sister to be 40 years old!!!) Last night my brother-in-law Jay had a surprise party for Melba.  He asked all of us to wear black, now I don’t think 40 is quite old enough to warrant a black theme, but it was his party, so I went along with the theme when I made Melba’s card. And just like the party, the card is Continue Reading →

Update on Breast Cancer Awareness Stamp Camp

Last week, I hosted my 2nd Annual “I’m Dreaming of a PINK Christmas” event in honor of my beloved Mother, Louise Mileur, who is celebrating her 20th year as a Breast Cancer Survivor!!!   Unfortunately, she ended up being sick and wasn’t able to attend the event. I shared two of the cards that we made in the October 25th post titled “I’m Dreaming of a PINK Christmas”.  (The little snow-woman purse didn’t make the final cut after all.)  I wanted to share the other two cards that we made at the Breast Cancer Awareness events. I think this first Continue Reading →

I’M DREAMING OF A PINK CHRISTMAS, Breast Cancer Awareness Stamp Camp

I’m getting excited about the Breast Cancer Awareness Stamp Camp that is scheduled for next week.  This is my 2nd Annual “I’m Dreaming of a PINK Christmas” event and it is in honor of my beloved Mother, Louise Mileur, who is celebrating her 20th year as a Breast Cancer Survivor!!!  Be sure to look at the previous post “Breast Cancer Awareness Stamp Camp”, posted 10/12/2012, to get more info on this event. I’ve been trying to decide on cards for the event and so far I have two that I’m loving.  My first one was inspired by Nina Dee on Stampin’ Connection. Continue Reading →

NO TRICKS, JUST TREATS!

This stair-step card was inspired by Beth Rank’s design.  I made just a couple of minor changes. I just love Halloween!!!  I’m the house with the bubble & fog machines at the front door and the “Welcome” mat that makes scary noises when you step on it.  All the neighborhood kids know that as far as I’m concerned there is no such a thing as being “too old” to trick-or-treat.  I don’t even understand why the community has an age limit for trick-or-treaters.  If you are 13, 18, or even 35 years old, and you still think its fun to Continue Reading →

YUMMY GUMMIES SKELETON TREAT BOX

©Stampin’Up!™1990-2012 I just love this silly little witch from Stampin’ Up!’s “Googly Ghouls” stamp set.  We used her on this “Coffin” at our Halloween Themed stamp camp.  It’s a pop-up box that holds Yummy Gummies Graveyard candy skeletons.  Too funny! ©Stampin’Up!™1990-2012 Don’t you just love Halloween?!?!?!  I get so tickled seeing the little kids in their costumes. It brings back so many great memories of Trick-or-Treating when I was a kid.  Our town has a stupid rule about how old you can be to go out Trick-or-Treating, but the big “kids” know that  I’m a softy and that I’ll give them candy, Continue Reading →
